The ABV Movement (Alternative for Bulgarian Revival) of former two-term President Georgi Parvanov (2002-2012) will become a party.

Parvanov announced Monday that he felt guilty about the dissatisfying performance of the party at the European Parliament elections and had requested a vote of confidence by the governing body of the formation.

According to preliminary results of the European Parliament elections, the ABV Movement received 4.4% of the votes.

Parvanov claimed that ABV had a promising future and that the formation would start preparing for the next parliamentary elections immediately.

He claimed that the results at the European elections indicated that the ABV Movement would have passed the threshold to enter Parliament and assured that the formation could perform much better.

Asked to comment on partnership with the parties which had emerged winners in the European Parliament elections, Parvanov said that he would only respond to concrete invitations in order to not appear impudent.

Bulgarian MEP Ivaylo Kalfin, the first candidate on the list of the ABV Movement, informed that he would not quit politics despite the fact that he did not win a new term at the European Parliament.

Kalfin said that he would keep his political commitment to the ABV Movement so as to justify the trust of voters who had supported him.
