Half of Bulgarians Hardly Afford To Pay Taxes – Poll

More than half of Bulgarians must set money aside in order to pay their taxes on time, according to a recent study.

Some 40% of respondents would use card payments at the National Revenue Agency if they had access to POS terminals, the survey of Noema agency cited by Bulgarian National Radio showed.

Young Bulgarians have estimated highly the benefits of electronic payments. More than 55% of people under the age of 35 prefer this method of payment when it comes to local taxes and fees.

In 2014 alone the number of people who have chosen this method of payment increased by two percent and reached ten percent of the population. Speed and convenience are the two major advantages of electronic payments, according to the polled. A total of 90% of respondents said that the POS terminal payments are convenient and time saving.

Some 52% of Bulgarians said they need to save for a long time in order to be able to pay their taxes. Another 38% of the respondents claimed they could afford paying taxes on time. Only 4% of the polled think taxes are low and have no problem paying them.
