Complaints to Bulgaria's Ombudsman Rose By 26% in 2013

The complaints of Bulgarians to the Office of the Ombudsman have risen by 26% in 2013, shows a report. 

“This is an unprecedented growth,” says the Ombudsman Konstantin Penchev during the presentation of his report to the Social Committee of Parliament. 

The positive trend is that for the first time since 2008 the complaints regarding children's rights are decreasing, rather than increasing. In 2013 they were 152 – by 11 less than in 2012. 

A large number of complaints came from disabled people who have difficulties in covering the strict requirements for applying for the municipal programs for assistance. 

Largest number of complaints was against the utilities companies – 540. people were mostly complaining from bad service and lack of information.
