Bulgarian Agriculture Fund Provides Aid Promised to Farmers in One Day

Bulgaria's State Fund Agriculture has managed to provide the additional BGN 4M it promised to farmers in a day, Thursday.

On Wednesday, Agriculture Minister Dimitar Grekov called for an urgent meeting of the state board in order to secure the state aid for the farmers. The funds are part of the de minimis state aid amounting to BGN 15M and will be paid off by May 23, according to media reports.

The Management Board of the state fund has announced that the funds are already available. They will be allocated to cattle farmers under the condition that they retain 75% of the number of animals they have received funding for by December 31, 2014.

The total amount of de minimis aid per farmer, and for an entity may not exceed the BGN equivalent of EUR 15,000 for a period of three fiscal years (2012-2014 ).
