Bulgarian Minister Urges Council of Europe Probe into Odessa Clashes

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin took part in the 124th session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe held on May 5-6 in Vienna.

During the session, the 65th anniversary of the organization was marked.

The main topics on the agenda of the forum were the state of democracy, human rights and the rule of law in Europe, as well as the situation in Ukraine, according to the press office of Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry.

Vigenin issued a statement backing the initiatives of the Council of Europe aimed at finding a peaceful exit from the crisis in Ukraine.

He also demanded that the Council of Europe International Advisory Panel investigate the dramatic events in Odessa.

At the session, Austria handed over the 6-month rotating presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to Azerbaijan.

Bulgaria will take over the rotating presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in the second half of 2015.
