Greek traders warned of fake EUR 50 banknotes which, according to experts, have been printed in Bulgaria.

The Greek Financial and Economic Crime Unit claimed that the cash seized on the island of Crete has been manufactured in Bulgaria and fully resembles the Euro banknotes which were earlier found in other parts of the country, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported Saturday.

Police are investigating the way the counterfeit money came from Bulgaria and whether some of it has been in circulation elsewhere in the country.

Meanwhile, Crete police arrested a 30-year-old Bulgarian, who lives and works on the island. The Bulgarian citizen has been charged with cultivation and possession of drugs after the authorities found cannabis plants in his home, BNR informs.
