Bulgarian Exports Decreased in Beginning of 2014

Exports to the EU dwindled by 2.6% on a yearly basis in January and was estimated at BGN 2 B.

Statistics on trade with non-EU countries yield worse results, with a 14.2% decrease in exports for January and February, the website Expert.bg reports, citing official data.

It amounted to BGN 2.4 B. Within the EU, Germany, Italy, Greece, Romania, France and Belgium are Bulgaria's top trade partners, while Turkey, Singapore, China, Russia, OAE and FYR Macedonia rank as most important to commerce among states outside the bloc.

EU-originated imports to Bulgaria in January were up 12.8% compared to the same month in 2013, but that of third countries dropped by 8.8%.

Trade balance with the EU in January 2014 was negative, with a deficit totaling BGN 365 M, or BGN 256.9 on FOB prices (which do not include transport and product insurance costs).

With non-EU countries it iwas BGN 605.5 M or BGN 448.6 M.
