A Chinese rescue ship has picked up a pulse signal in the southern Indian Ocean, which may be related to the missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370.
The signal has a frequency of 37.5kHz per second, which is the same as those emitted by flight recorders, the BBC reports. However, it is yet to be determined if there is a link to the missing airplane.
The Malaysia Airlines flight 370 disappeared on March 8, on route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur, with 239 people on board. It was later calculated that the flight most likely went down in the southern Indian Ocean, off the western coast of Australia, quite some distance from its intended course.
Rescue teams spotted floating objects that could have been from the airplane, but there has been no confirmation.
Dozens of aircraft and ships are taking part in the search, which is being conducted by the Australian maritime authorities.
