Public confidence in Bulgaria's institutions and the political elite has further declined in March, a new nationally representative survey by pollster Alpha Research shows.

While the levels of optimism regarding Bulgaria's progress have increased slightly from 15% to 20%, the pessimistic attitude among the polled has recorded a significant increase from 51% to 61%, according to the survey results.

Bulgaria's government has reached 55% disapproval levels, compared to some 19% in favor of its work. Prime Minister Oresharski has been criticized by 50% of the polled, while preserving the previous month approval levels of 25%.

Some 65% of Bulgarians show lack of confidence in the Parliament. President Rosen Plevneliev has received the approval of 27% of the respondents, as opposed to 37% of disapproval.

The poll result show an overall lack of public confidence in Bulgarian institutions ahead of European elections, Bulgaria's Dnevnik Daily points out.
