Two police officers who went snooping around and taking photos of the house of the Lyaskovest shooter Petko Petkov, spoiled the police operation for his disarming.

Interior Ministry Chef Secretary Svetlozar Lazarov said this in Parliament during a hearing on the spoiled operation from last week in the town of Lyaskovets. It resulted in the death of one police officer, the wounding of other three and a several-hour siege, which ultimately ended with the capturing of the wounded Petkov.

According to Lazarov, the two plain clothes police officers from Veliko Tarnovo, without orders from their superiors, went to Lyaskovets. There they got in contact with the uniformed officers on duty around the house and gave a photo camera to one of them. He went up, rang Petkov's doorbell and took photos of the door.

According to Lazarov, those actions were unwarranted and alerted Petkov of the intentions of the police.

„We didn't need photos of the house, as we already had some,“ Lazarov said. “Those are frivolous actions.”
