E-Government in Bulgaria might be complete before 2020, Transport Minister Danail Papazov announced Wednesday.

Papazov, who is also in charge of the information technologies sector, considers it possible that Bulgaria reaches a "medium level" compared to EU countries in terms of electronic governance.

A total of EUR 145M have been put aside for digital growth and EUR 30M for infrastructure in rural areas, where access to Internet could sometimes still pose challenges.

In 2013, only 80 out of 562 administrations have introduced and offer e-services.

The results mean that, even if significant steps are made toward e-government, the current system will have to be in force for years.
