Malaysia Airlines Plane Search Involves 26 Countries

Twenty-six countries are taking part in the search and investigation surrounding the disappearance of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

Malaysian authorities revealed during a press conference on Monday that the scope of the search operation has been expanded as far as Kazakhstan and Australia, CNN reported.

Investigators have been searching the homes of the pilot and copilot and talking to their relatives over the past days, since it was revealed that the airplane had drastically shifted its course during flight. They are also looking into the background of the passengers, to find if anyone was a trained pilot.

Counseling centers have been set up in Beijing and Kuala Lumpur to assist the family and loved ones of the missing passengers and crew. It was revealed that a majority of the 239 people on board, 154 were Chinese citizens. There were 50 Malaysians on board as well.

The Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing disappeared on March 8.
