Bulgaria's Consumer Protection Commission Bans 243 Dangerous Goods

Nearly 70% of the 17,834 complaints received in Bulgaria's Commission for Consumer Protection in 2013 have been handled in favor of citizens, the institution reports.

The most frequent complaints concern faulty communication and audio-visual equipment, home appliances and services, shoes and furniture.

A total of 243 types of dangerous goods posing health risks have been banned, mostly products intended for children.

Consumers have been complaining in regards to the provision of quality tourism products. After carrying out 8990 inspections, the Consumer Protection Commission have drawn up 1034 statements.

Some 169 tourist accommodation establishments have been temporarily closed, due to providing services without the required rating or certificate of registration.
