Ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will make a public statement on Tuesday according to unnamed sources.

Yanukovych’s address is expected to be at midday, from the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, Radio Free Europe reveals. This would be only his second public appearance since he fled Ukraine last month.

In his first appearance on February 28, Yanukovych labeled the current Ukrainian leadership as “illegitimate” and the result of a “Western plot”. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has also claimed that Yanukovych is the legitimate leader of Ukraine.

It is believed that Yanukovych will talk about Crimea in his Tuesday address, five days before the autonomous, mainly pro-Russian entity, holds a referendum on its future.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian language television stations were shut off in Crimea, and substituted with Russian channels. The region’s main port city of Sevastsopol issued a decree making Russian the official language for administrative documents, while the Russian Ruble is also expected to be introduced.
