A demonstration in support of the new Ukrainian government was held in front of Russia's Embassy in Sofia.

The flashmob, attended by some 15 people, was organized by the United People's Party of Maria Kapon, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).

The activists carried a poster saying "Out of Ukraine" colored in yellow and blue, the Ukrainian flag, and a pile of shoes which they ordered in front of the Embassy building. Some of the shoes were filled with yellow and blue flowers to commemorate the victims of the violent clashes in Kiev's Independence Square.

Maria Kapon said that the aim of the demonstration  had been to express concern over the actions of the Russian government, with no negative feelings against the Russian people.

"We believe that this flashmob has to show that Russia has to step in its shoes and walk out of Ukraine," she added.

Kapon argued that turning a blind eye to the events in Ukraine meant that Bulgaria could not rely upon solidarity no matter what happened from now on.

She said that Bulgaria's President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister had come up with a civilized and dignified stance on the crisis in Ukraine.
