Military action is not the answer to problems in the 21st century, according to Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin, regarding the situation in Ukraine.

"Bulgaria supports the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine and expects the new government along with the international community to create the necessary conditions for the suppression of tension and the sustainable stabilization of the country," Bulgaria's Foreign Minister stated at his meeting with Ukraine's acting President Oleksandr Turchynov in Kiev, Tuesday, cited by Bulgarian BGNES.

"It is important for the Ukrainian government to take steps to involve all citizens regardless of their ethnicity, so that everyone feels useful for the political and economic stabilization of the country and to put an end to the conflicts and contradictions," Vigenin said.

Bulgaria's Foreign Minister expressed his satisfaction with Turchynov's refusal to scrap a law giving minority languages across the country the status of "official" ones within a region if they are spoken by more than 10% of the population.

According to Vigenin this is an important gesture to Bulgarians in Ukraine because "the signals that were sent by the Bulgarian side and by other member states have been heard."
