The freed former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko gave a moving speech in front of thousands of people on the Maidan square in Kiev.

Tymoshenko was freed from prison after 2.5 years behind bars on accusations of abusing her powers in office.

Despite her ailing health, Tymoshenko spoke from a wheelchair in front of a massive crowd.

"You are heroes, you are the best of Ukraine", she told her supporters, before breaking into tears.

“We simply cannot afford to pardon those who were allowed to send bullets into the hearts of our young men”, she added in her usual fiery tone.

Tymoshenko apologized to the crowd for not being able to join them in the protests and urged them to carry on until the dream of a new Ukraine is achieved. She also vowed to run for the President’s post in the early elections scheduled for later this year.
