Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych disproved news of his resignation in televised interview Saturday.

Yanukovych said that parliament speaker Volodymyr Rybak was attacked and that lawmakers from his Party of Regions defected due to threats made against them, KyivPost reports.

He likened the moves by opposition lawmakers and others in parliament today to coup d'etat.

Yanukovych location remains unknown since he allegedly arrived in the city of Kharkiv in the early hours of Saturday.

Meanwhile, during an emergency session of parliament on Saturday, the parliament elected opposition leader Oleksandr Turchynov as Ukraine's acting prime minister and Arsen Avakov as Ukraine's acting interior minister.
