There will be more resignations of MPs from Bulgaria's opposition center-right GERB party, predicts one of its breakaway parliamentarians Georgi Markov.

These comments came a day after Krasimir Stefanov, a former director of National Revenue Agency of Bulgaria, quit GEBR's parliamentary group without leaving parliament. He was the third to do so since the parliament began its work in June last year.

Markov, however, rejected the idea that a possible "group of the independent" could become the new and long-awaited key player at the right side of the political spectrum.

Both Georgi Markov and Svetlin Tanchev, who were the first two MPs to leave GERB's parliamentary group and remain independent MPs in 2013, expressed their opinions on the future of the opposition in an interview for Bulgarian Nova TV's morning program.

The former GERB MPs repeatedly claimed there had been no pressure on them to leave the ranks of the party.

Svetlin Tanchev explained he and his colleague believe they should stand up for their dissenting views.

"Presently I am fully independent and that is my decision", Tanchev said.

Markov, on the other hand, said he considers himself "quite a small fry" to be subject to political manipulations.

His estimates on the possible upcoming splits in GERB have varied over the past 24 hours since Krasimir Stefanov announced his decision to leave the opposition. He blames lack of intra-party democracy for the surging crisis.
