Tina Maze of Slovenia and Dominique Gisin of Switzerland tied for the gold medal at the women's Alpine skiing downhill at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

This is the first time in the history of the Winter Olympics for 2 athletes to share a gold medal in a discipline. On three previous occasions, silver medals in skiing were shared.

Both Maze and Gisin finished with a time of 1:41.57, while another Swiss, Lara Gut took bronze, just 0.10 seconds behind.

This is a first ever gold medal for Tina Maze and the first ever gold for her country Slovenia in Winter Olympics. It was also the first podium for Gisin in her Olympic career.

"I didn't want to look at the big screens. It's crazy. There was a lot of nerves, a lot of sweat, lot of emotions", Gisin commented, adding that she was honored to share the gold with such an amazing athlete.
