The transport permits row between Bulgaria and Turkey may cause a flower shortage in Europe for St. Valentine's Day.

Millions of Turkish flowers intended for St. Valentine's Day will not reach the market. The reason is the blockade at the border crossings between Bulgaria and Turkey, caused by the ongoing dispute about transit trucking permits, the BBC reported.

Of the planned 35 million flowers, 20 million were successfully delivered, 5 million are in trucks at the border and 10 million are sitting in the warehouses in Turkey, Osman Bagdatlioglu of the Turkish Association of Exporters said.

The flower producers claim their losses will be up to 90%, as flowers perish within a few days and their only option was to sell them in Turkey or throw them out.
