The recent earthquakes in Greece do not pose a direct threat to Bulgaria, according to seismological experts.

In the past week, 2 powerful earthquakes and a number of aftershocks have jolted the western Greek island of Cephalonia.

"This region is over 500km away from Sofia, and we are not directly affected by the processes there", Emil Botev, head of the National Seismological Center told TV7.

Botev specified that there are 3-4 different seismic zones dividing Bulgaria from the currently active Greek zones.
