Governmental and opposition forces are convening on a new round of talks Tuesday morning at Ukraine's parliament in hope for resolution of the political crisis in the country.

According to the Verkhovna Rada's Speaker Volodymyr Rybak, there is reason for optimism, as the two sides "have started to listen to each other."

"MPs have to seek a real soultion to the situation in the country," stated opposition Homeland party Arseniy Yatsenyuk, on his part.

"Parliament can do a lot for the solution of problems which our country faces as never before. One of those things is the return of the constitution from 2004," added he.

Other MPs have also called for a return of the older constitution, which would see the powers of the Ukrainian president reduced.

But the ruling Party of Regions has this far opposed such a move.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has called a round table on democracy in Ukraine, and has continued to sharply criticize violence and damage at anti-government protests.
