The Republic of Macedonia will hold presidential elections on April 13, with a run-off on April 27, if necessary.

The date was set by Trayko Velyanovski, Parliament Speaker, according to reports of the BGNES news agency.

By the end of the day, Velyanovski's decision is to be referred to the State Election Committee and the Ministry of Interior.

It is still unclear whether the current head of state, Gjorge Ivanov, will run for a second term.

Ivanov was nominated by ruling party VMRO-DPMNE of Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.

The State Election Commission Chairman Nikola Rilkoski informed that the body was prepared for both presidential elections and possible early general elections.
