Iran Nuclear Deal Enters Into Force January 20

The nuclear deal between Iran and the world powers will go into effect as of January 20.

The deal, signed between the United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia, China, Germany and Iran in November, envisages that the Islamic country halt its enrichment of uranium beyond the 5% norm. In return, the global powers will ease the economic sanctions towards Iran.

The United Nations' nuclear watchdog (IAEA) will be tasked with overseeing the deal's implementation, on the part of Iran's nuclear program, reports the BBC.

"Beginning  January 20, Iran will start eliminating its stockpile of higher levels of enriched uranium and dismantling some of the infrastructure that makes such enrichment possible", stated US President Barack Obama.

"Meanwhile, we will continue to vigorously enforce the broader sanctions regime, and if Iran fails to meet its commitments we will move to increase our sanctions", added the President, regarding the world powers' commitment to ease sanctions on Iran.

The deal has been widely criticized by Israel, which is skeptical of Iran's commitment stop developing its nuclear program.
