Bulgarian police are now using a photograph to search for Hristo Biserov, former Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.

The picture of the former Deputy Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament and former Deputy Chairman of the liberal, predominantly ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) has already been posted in every district police precinct and at all cross border checkpoints, reported "Standard" daily.

This has been ordered after the long-awaited search warrant of the Sofia City Court arrived at the Interior Ministry Friday morning, says the Ministry's Chief Secretary Svetlozar Lazarov.

"On December 27, we received an order to establish the addresses and whereabouts of Mr. Biserov so that he could be summoned as a witness in a criminal case," said Lazarov. He added that the police have taken all measures for the speedy discovery of the former MP.

On December 17, the Sofia City Court announced that Biserov is wanted after he failed to take the witness stand in the case against Oktay Enimehmedov – the attacker of politician Ahmed Dogan, honorary leader of the Turkish party, DPS.

It emerged that one of his addresses known to the Court was the address of the Residence of the Czech Ambassador, while Biserov had not been seen at the second one for months. He has already been fined BGN 500 for failing to appear before the judge.

Biserov was recently charged with money laundering and document fraud.

Last month local media claimed that CIA has exposed his financial crimes.

The reports came on the heels of information that the tipoff about the crimes has been sent to Bulgaria's State Agency for National Security (DANS) by a foreign special service.

Transfers from Biserov's Swiss account to assets of his stepson Ivaylo Glavinkov in Macedonia have attracted the attention of agents, and after a second tranche of USD 50 000, they have notified their Bulgarian counterparts.

Upon receiving the money, the two made deposits, withdrew cash and made bank transfers to related companies registered in the offshore zones of the Seychelles Islands.

The former Member of the Parliament is being also investigated for a false tax declaration.

Biserov has been a long-time key figure in the DPS party leadership, and has acted as MP since 2005 until November 3, when he surprisingly resigned from all posts, citing personal reasons.
