Bulgarian students studying abroad are gathering Thursday for an anti-government protest in downtown Sofia.

Organizers of the rally told private TV station bTV that the starting point of the rally, scheduled to start at 3pm, was the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) HQ.

An hour later, the traditional anti-government rally starts, and the two groups of protesters are to merge, according to mediapool.bg.

The protests seeking the resignation of Bulgaria's socialist-led government over graft allegations started over six months ago.

The first massive rally was held on June 14 in response to the scandalous appointment of media tycoon Delyan Peevski as Chair of the State Agency for National Security (DANS).

Although the number of protesters has decreased substantially, the anti-government rallies are still ongoing.

In early October, students started staging sit-ins at universities across the country, demanding the resignation of the Cabinet and the dissolution of Parliament.
