Bulgaria's government has managed to "rescue" EUR 237 M from the total amount of EUR 272 of EU Funds deemed to have been at risk of being lost.

The data was reported Saturday by Deputy Prime Minister, Zinaida Zlatanova, who stressed this way the country will lose only EUR 35 M (BGN 70 M).

The biggest losses come from program "Environment" – EUR 27 M; there are some losses as well under programs "Technical Assistance" and "Administrative Capacity."

Zlatanova also reported an increase in the actually paid and certified funds under European programs from March to December this year.

In March, 37% were paid 37% and 28% certified, and in December - 53% and 42%, respectively.

The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the resources of the National Fund at the Ministry of Finance, in charge of settling payments with the European Commission, have been reduced by BGN 1 B, because of the greater absorption of EU funds.

Zlatanova, who is also Justice Minister, further said the website of the Ministry of Justice will publish Saturday the draft of the new Penal Code.
