Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov's press secretary, Vitaliy Lukyanenko, has suggested that Ukraine wants to continue talks with the EU on the Association Agreement.

Lukyanenko, as cited by RIA Novosti, informed that the Ukrainian government was decisively in favor of continuing talks on the terms of implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and was taking steps to achieve that.

He went on to assure that Kiev would only take into consideration and respond to official statement s of the EU on the talks.

Earlier on Sunday, European Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fule informed in a tweeted message that the EU was suspending work with the Ukrainian government on the Association Agreement.

The decision to suspend negotiations with Ukraine over the wide-ranging political and free trade agreement was taken due to the failure of Ukrainian President to signal his "clear commitment" to signing the deal.
