Bulgaria Has World's 18th Fastest Download Speed

Bulgaria has the world’s 18th highest average consumer download speed, according to a new ranking produced by Ookla.

The country’s average household download speed is 29.12 Mbps.

Bulgaria also occupies the prestigious 15th spot in terms of household upload speeds.

Bulgaria is ranked first in Ookla’s Household Value Index which calculates the median cost in US dollars per Mbps for Internet broadband services around the world.

However, the country ranks 17th when taking into account GDP per capita.

The top five positions in terms of Internet download speeds went to Hong Kong at 71.22Mbps, Singapore at 52.75Mbps, Romania at 50.26Mbps, South Korea at 47.20Mbps and Sweden at 42.35Mbps. The UK is 25th, while the United States weighs in at 31st place.
