A maximum of 18 athletes will compete for Bulgaria in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

Currently, there are 14 athletes qualified for the competition, as well as 1 reserve, and 3 more who are pending, reports the daily Trud.

The highest number are the biathlonists, including a men’s team of 4, with 1 reserve, as well as a woman. Their names will be revealed on January 20 in the final list of participants.

For the first time, Bulgaria will have a participant in the luge competition.

Meanwhile, there will be no Bulgarians in the figure skating and short track speed skating, two of the country’s traditionally strong disciplines.

The Sochi Olympics start on February 7th and end on the 23rd.
