Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry has issued a recommendation to all of its citizens to refrain from travelling to France, unless absolutely necessary, over the complicated winter situation in the country.

The travel advisory is stronger for Eastern France over the first snowfall, which created huge traffic congestions and disruptions. On Thursday, hundreds of people were blocked in their automobiles between the cities of Grenoble and Lyon. The snow cover in the mountains has reached half-meter height.

Three people have died after the season's first snowfall stirred traffic chaos in France, RFI reports.

Twenty five departments in France between the Ardennes and the Alpes are on high alert and under code orange with more snowfall in the forecast for Friday.

Bulgarian citizens are advised to gather information about the weather and the road conditions on their route and strictly observe rules for driving in winter situation and obey directions of French authorities.
