Latest Poll Registers 6% Margin between Major Bulgarian Parties

There is currently a 6% margin between the two major parties in Bulgaria, BSP and GERB, according to the latest poll.

The poll was conducted between November 14 and 18 by the Mediana agency.

If parliamentary elections were to be held now, 22.8% would vote for the ruling, left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, 16.9% - for the formerly-ruling, opposition and centrist Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, and 8.6% - for the recently-founded right-wing Reformist Bloc.

According to Mediana, 7.6% would support the liberal, predominantly ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS, and 4.3% - the populist movement "Bulgaria without Censorship of controversial former TV journalist Nikolay Barekov.

The Patriotic Union around the nationalist National Front for Salvation of Bulgaria, NFSB, has 2.9% support, while the extremist, nationalist Ataka, currently parliamentary represented - 2.8%.

However, according to another recent poll, conducted by "Gallup International" in the period October 31 – November 7, the difference between BSP and GERB was 3.3%.
