Bulgarian TV Reporter Earns Prestigious Award for Journalism

Young Bulgarian journalist Rosen Tsvetkov is the winner of the 2013 award for "Journalism for People."

The award was bestowed to him at a special ceremony at the Bulgarian National (public) Radio, BNR. His successful investigative documentaries about illegal vote buying, missing people, children trafficking, and youth violence earned him the high honor.

Recently, Tsvetkov made headlines with his report exposing the extremist nationalist party Ataka in paying people to protest in front of its headquarters.

The Grand Prize, received by Tsvetkov, is given for overall contributions in reporting current issues, provoking public debates and legislative amendments, and showing journalistic courage.

The journalist is currently one of the hosts of the morning political talk show of the Bulgarian National Television, BNT.

Blogger Ivo Bozhkov won the award for online media; Mariya Cherneva from the public TV BNT, won the award for electronic media; Panayot Angarev from "Sega" (Now) daily won the print media award, and Polina Paunova from "Mediapool" - the award for young journalist.
