Bulgarian students from the National Academy for Theater and Film Arts, NATFIZ, staged an anti-government performance wearing gas masks in front of the Parliament building.
The students blocked the street and showed their discontent with the Socialist-led government by performing sketches, wearing gas masks. They symbolized the “poisonous politics” that Bulgarian society is subjected to.
NATFIZ students have been active in the protests over the past weeks by staging flash mobs on the Rakovski Street in front of the academy. They also initiated a partial occupation of their lecture halls in support of their colleagues from the Sofia University.
At the end of their performance, the students fell to the ground, playing “dead” for several minutes.
A similar form of protest took place on Sunday, to commemorate the police brutality at the student protests in Prague (1939) and Athens (1973).
