Hristo Biserov, former Deputy Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament, who has been charged with money laundering and document fraud, did his best not to be handed the unflattering "Golden Skunk" award, but in a quite rude way.

The mocking award is given out by the popular TV show "Lords of the Air" in recognition of a particularly stinking affair, as suggested by the little and smelly black-and-white striped mammal it has been named after.

The show reporters will have to be more creative in their ambush strategies, it turned out on Friday after Hristo Biserov proved too fast and rude to catch after turning up for interrogation at the investigative office.

He just got onto his BMW and shut the door, hurting the hand of the reporter and breaking the mocking statuette.

"Lord of the Air" takes particular interest in exposing blunders by fellow TV journalists, but also seeks to draw the public attention in more unusual ways.
