Bulgaria's Prosecution Probes Refugee Agency, Migration Directorate

The prosecuting authority has started an inspection at Bulgaria's State Agency for Refugees and the Migration Directorate of the Interior Ministry.

With a view to the public significance of the procedure for granting refugee status, the Supreme Administrative Prosecutor's Office started an inspection at the State Agency for Refugees and the Migration Directorate of the Interior to monitor the application of the Asylum and Refugees Act, the Foreigners in Bulgaria Act and the relevant subsidiary legislation, according to the press office of the prosecuting authority.

Information was also requested from the Administrative Court Sofia City and the Supreme Administrative Court as regards appeals procedures against decisions of the State Agency for Refugees on granting refugee status or humanitarian status.
