Bulgaria's top tennis player Grigor Dimitrov is pleased with his performance in 2013.

"It was a tough last match for the year, but against a great opponent. Still, I am proud to end my best season so far, and looking forward to 2014", wrote Dimitrov in his Facebook profile.

On Thursday, the Bulgarian lost in the 3rd round of the BNP Paribas Masters to Juan Martin Del Potro 6:3, 3:6, 4:6 in his last match for 2013.

Dimitrov made considerable progress over the year, climbing from 48th to 22nd in the world rankings. In May, he beat the world number 1 at the time Novak Djokovic in the Madrid Masters.

Dimitrov also won his maiden ATP title, in Stockholm in October.
