The Bulgarian Parliament can do with a smaller budget for 2014, according to Parliament Speaker Mihail Mikov.

Mikov made the proposal at a sitting Thursday at the parliamentary Budgeting Committee, which was discussing Bulgaria's budget framework for next year.

The Parliament Spaker said that the cuts can be implemented after the closing down over the summer of the National Center for the Study of Public Opinion (NCIOM), a polling entity under the auspices of the house, as well as given further planned shedding of parliamentary administration.

The construction of a new plenary hall in the second parliament building on Nezavisimost Sq. has also been postponed, which will save resources, said Mikov.

At the same time, the Parliament Spaker said that the house will open a new unit in its administration, to be devoted on the impact assessment of proposed legislation.
