Winning a ATP Tour title has been a dream come true for Grigor Dimitrov, as well as his home country – Bulgaria.

Dimitrov, 22, became the first Bulgarian male tennis player to win a tour title after rallying to shock top seed David Ferrer in the final of the Stockholm Open in Sweden.

"Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski has expressed the hope that (Dimitrov) will become an inspiration for many young talents in Bulgaria," the government's press office said in a statement.

Local media joined the chorus of jubilant well-wishers, describing Grigor's success as an incredible achievement for Bulgarian sport, a remarkable comeback.

Trud daily went as far as to call him "a prince".

Dimitrov won his first ATP World Tour title on Sunday, after defeating world number 3 David Ferrer by 2-1 sets in Stockholm. This came after a series of bad results in recent months, as well as a change of coaches by the Bulgarian.
