Ancient Wine Cellar Discovered in Bulgaria's Nessebar

Archaeologists in Bulgaria's Black Sea town of Nessebar have dug up an antique winery, believed to date back to the 5th century B.C.
Over 30 containers for storing wine have been discovered during excavations in the northern peninsula of Nessebar, revealed Anelia Bozhkova, director of the site.
"There have been 2 structures, which have been destroyed over time, but the underground cellar has remained", said Petya Kiashkina, director of the Ancient Nessebar Museum.
"This discovery documents the earliest traces of civilization on the peninsula. This is the period right after the Greek colonization and the creation of Mesambria", adds Bozhkova.
The excavations will be restored and exhibited in the Nessebar Museum.
