Bulgarian Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski was awaited once again by riot police Thursday at the entrance of hotel "Sheraton" in downtown Sofia to protect him from antigovernment protesters.

He arrived there around 4:30 pm to officially open the EU-Balkans Summit, organized by renowned „Economist“ magazine. Oresharski was once again met by protesters booing him, but the group was relatively small.

Unlike exactly one week ago, this time around, he managed to enter the hotel from the front door.

Even a smaller group of government supporters, guarded by three policemen, and shouting “Oresharski!”, was also in attendance.

The PM delivered an address to the participants and took part in the discussion, but declined comments for the media.

According to local online news agencies, Oresharski has, however, chosen to leave by the back door, where he stopped to light up a cigarette and then proceeded on foot, in the company of security guards, to the government headquarters across the street.

A government-issued vehicle has picked him up from there, eyewitnesses have reported.
