72 people will face charges following Sunday's riots and clashes with police in the southern district of Biryulyovo in Russian capital Moscow.

Of those, 2 persons are going to face criminal charges, while the 70 others have been issued administrative tickets, reports RIA Novosti.

The rest of the some 380 people arrested during the unrest have already been released.

Events in Biryulyovo (also spelled Biryulevo, Biryulovo) came to a head Sunday after a peaceful popular gathering turned violent.

Residents rallied in outrage at the stab killing of a young man and demanded swift justice against the perpetrator of the act, who has escaped.

But their protest took on a xenophobic overtone, after rumors spread that the killer was a migrant from the Caucasus or Central Asia.

Some 30 people, including a number of police officers, were injured in what is being described as the largest unrest in Moscow for years.
