Bulgarian football made global headlines after Levski's newly appointed head coach was attacked by angry fans at his first press conference.

Ivaylo Petev was unveiled on Tuesday as Levski Sofia's new coach, before a group of angry fans stormed the press conference and stripped his team shirt. They were protesting against his alleged affiliation to rivals CSKA.

The BBC, Sky Sports, and France 24 posted a video of the incident.

"Bulgarian Coach Loses Shirt and Job", was the headline of The New York Times.

Reuters reported that "Angry Fans of Levski Strip Head Coach During Press Conference". The news agency comments that these "outrageous people" should be banned from attending matches for life.

"Angry Levski Fans Strip their New Coach", writes The Guardian.

Petev stepped down from his new post the following day.
