Bulgarian Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin believes the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement will ease trade with the former Soviet country.

“I highly hope the agreement will be ratified at the November summit in Vilnius. It would give a broad range of perspectives for the Ukrainian business to grow within the EU space. The agreement will benefit Bulgaria's trade and business relations with Ukraine as well”, commented Vigenin, speaking to journalists.

The Foreign Minister acknowledges the fact that Russia opposes the agreement, but believes Ukraine should have the freedom to choose in which direction to go.

“It seems Ukraine has made it obvious with which union it prefers to link closer”, he added.

The Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine is expected to be signed at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius at the end of November.

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, and Georgia are among the other ex-Soviet states currently negotiating a similar agreement.
