Bulgaria's Constitutional Court Set to Rule on Fate of Notorious MP

Bulgaria’s Constitutional Court is to decide whether an MP will be allowed to return to Parliament after his shocking election as head of the national security agency backfired.
News website Mediapool reports that the court would likely fail to reach a decision on Tuesday, as its 12 members are stuck in a tie vote.
The appointment of Peevski, a lawmaker and shady media tycoon, for head of powerful State Security Agency on June 14 triggered mass protests in Bulgaria, ongoing for nearly four months now.
Peevski’s appointment was canceled by Parliament on June 19, but the move failed to appease protesters, who have demanded the government’s resignation for over 115 consecutive days in Sofia, with some of the rallies attracting dozens of thousands of anti-graft protesters.
The cancelled appointment brought up the question of whether Peevski could return to his previous post of MP from liberal party Movement for Rights and Freedoms.
