Bulgaria and China may cooperate in the sphere of tobacco production and exports of fermented and unfermented tobacco, according to Bulgarian Agriculture Minister Dimitar Grekov.

Grekov's statement, as cited by the press office of the Agriculture Ministry, came after a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Bulgaria Wei Jinghua.

A joint committee will be set up to enhance commercial relations between the two countries.

The committee will be tasked with developing concrete opportunities for cooperation, including building a company for the production of yoghurt, wine exports,   organic products, children's food products, oil crops and essential oil crops, meat and mineral water, according to Grekov.

The committee will also include representatives of branch organizations in order to ensure good communication with the producers.

"We rely not only on exports but we also expect Chinese investors to come to Bulgaria. Interest has already been expressed in assembling tractors and building a fodder plant," Grekov was quoted as saying.

He suggested that talks with China would eventually focus on the details, adding that this was "an important step towards achieving the goals in the sphere of bilateral relations."
