Bulgarian Parliament Speaker Mihail Mikov has claimed that the country is not in a parliamentary crisis.

Mikov admitted that there are “some difficulties” in the Parliament’s work, adding that MPs should put efforts into passing key legislation.

“Apparently, emergency sittings will have to take place over the following weeks,” he told reporters.

For yet another day, the Bulgarian Parliament failed to start working  Friday due to lack of quorum.

Tensions between the ruling Socialist-led coalition and the opposition GERB party have been growing recently, with GERB legislators refusing to register for sittings on a number of occasions.

Sunday marks the 114th consecutive day of relentless anti-corruption protests demanding the resignation of PM Plamen Oresharski’s fragile government.
