Students from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski’s Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (FMI) will improve their skills using cutting edge technology.

A joint project of Samsung Electronics and Sofia University, Innovation Lab is fully equipped with state of the art technology.

Tablets, laptops and mobile software-testing devices are provided for the 20 workstations in the lab.

The Innovation Lab project is part of Samsung’s global youth employment and entrepreneurship initiative, whose aim is to help young people obtain a quality education and gain employability skills.

Students will use the lab to improve their computer skills.

As part of the innovation lab project, Samsung will organize a one semester course on software programming for FMI students who opt to attend it as an extracurricular activity. Attendees will have the opportunity to advance in mobile solutions programming on Android platform and to explore career options in computer programming.

Additionally, the winner in a programming contest to be held in the lab will be awarded with EUR 3000 and with an internship in the enterprise.

“The Innovation Lab project’s aim is to improve the computer skills of the students in order to make them competitive on the labor market”, says Chris Chung, General Manager of Samsung Bulgaria.
