Bulgaria and Romania consider setting up a joint vegetable market in some of the two countries’ Danube cities, Bulgarian Agriculture Minister Dimitar Grekov announced on Thursday.

“This would be a very good opportunity for producers and retailers on both sides of the river Danube, Grekov noted after meeting with Romanian Ambassador to Bulgaria Anton Pacuretu.

“In this way we will stimulate the farmers to remain here instead of seeking jobs aborad,” the Agriculture Minister said.

Bulgaria and Romania are expected to set up joint committee that would discuss the two countries’ common interests in the agriculture sector.

Grekov has officially invited his Romanian counterpart to visit Bulgaria, it was also made clear on Thursday.
